Hello again, and welcome to 2019! It astounds me how quickly 2018 went by. Boggles the mind, to be frank. So we’re kicking off the blog this year with a fashion recap of 2018. The awkward moment when you shoot so many outfits in the year (38 is a lot for me, okay) that you need to split your year in outfits post in not two, but three! *insert monkey-hiding-eyes emoji here* So given the drive and energy on my part, you can expect three posts this weekend! Lucky you, huh? Hmm, sure. Moving swiftly onwards…

Style Evolution

Despite the fact that I still own the vast majority of the clothes in this post, I feel like my style has evolved a lot in the last year. If anything, it’s simplified. My goal for 2019 is to not spend money on clothes where it isn’t necessary. I want the simplest of capsule wardrobes, where everything’s sleek, flattering and works well with whatever it’s paired with. I fell off the sustainability wagon a little in 2018 and went somewhat clothes crazy, but I’m nipping that in the bud this year.

2018 Fashion Staples

Over the years, I’ve found items that I’ll want to wear forever – my acid wash denim jacket, black and white striped tees, black skinny jeans, emo-tastic trainers, black boots. They’re all wardrobe staples that’ll see me through every possible outing or occasion. Throw in a few statement┬ájackets and shoes and boom, capsule complete. I think my line-up is almost perfect at this point, so hopefully I can stick with it and put my hard-earned cash towards something more useful. AKA… Fiat 500, here I come!

I’m excited to challenge myself in using a more slight collection to develop more outfits than ever before. I think it’ll be even more of a challenge to use the same pieces over and over in different ways. I’d rather that than constantly replenishing my wardrobe with an in-out mentality. Let’s see what 2019’s creativity has to offer!

Stay tuned super soon for part two of my 2018 in outfits post!
