A blonde’s worst nightmare: yellow tones! Re-colouring my hair is one of my favourite things: no roots, a fresh coat of auburn and most importantly – a non-brassy ombre. Freshly bleached hair with a silver glow is always the vibe for me. With that in mind, I’m letting you all in on my favourite products for keeping my blonde ombre bright, brass-free and a gorgeous silver blonde.
Hairdresser Lee Stafford is well-known throughout the UK for his wide variety of products. Fun fact: I don’t think I know anyone that didn’t love the For Hair That Never Grows Past a Certain Length range! Even if your hair isn’t blonde, this is a great one to have in your haircare line-up. Designed as a treat for blonde hair, it’s ideal for any hair type that’s overprocessed or in need of a little TLC. This has become my go-to conditioner during every wash, as my blonde ends drink up the extra moisture. You’ll never miss this one on the shelf with its electric pink tub, and it has subtle lavender scent that’s just the right amount of refreshing. It keeps my hair content and in good nick, so if my hair’s happy, I’m happy! The original treatment doesn’t add any colour to your hair, but there are two other versions available for toning to purple/silver or ice white. Which would you like to try out?
For when my hair’s looking a little brassy, this baby comes in very handy! Be warned, it might come as a shock when you first squeeze it out of the tube. Unlike traditional purple toning products, this conditioner is a unique royal blue instead. It’s decorated the walls of my shower far too many times for me to forget… But not to worry, it doesn’t stain! If you’re on the lookout for something subtle, this is for you. The before and after definitely isn’t anything drastic, but my hair is definitely a lot less yellow and more silver after using this.
If I ever came across a medal-worthy silver shampoo, it’s this one! Fully pigmented and powerful, it’s forever my go-to for banishing brassy tones from my hair. It also leaves my hair feeling really clean too, which is just an added bonus! It’s deep violet and glittery once out of the tube, but it creates the most gorgeous lavender foam once lathered. The longer you leave it on, the more effective the result will be. I tend to leave it on 3-5 minutes while I’m in the shower, which changes my platinum to a silvery-white. If you were to leave in on long-term (I’m talking 20-30 minutes), I can guarantee that you’d have the most gorgeous pewter/lavender locks. I haven’t left it on that long to make the discovery, but maybe it’ll be my next experiment! What’s your vibe – platinum princess, silver surfer or lavender lady?
