We’re all in the same strange boat at the minute. Locked away indoors almost every minute of the day, waiting for this odd limbo period to end. A lot of people are spending this time indulging in lots of TLC: specifically looking after nails and eyelashes after one treatment too many. I’m doing the same, but honing in more on skincare. If you’ve caught up recently, you’ll already know all about my endless love affair with The Ordinary skincare range. But outside of that, I’m chatting through 5 cruelty-free skincare products that I couldn’t be without right now.

Pixi Glow Tonic

Not to be dramatic, but this is a total game-changer in any and every skincare routine. I trialed the Lacura equivalent from Aldi beforehand and was more than impressed. More than time to try out the real deal, and it didn’t disappoint! I’ve had problematic skin since my teens: redness, acne, oiliness, and lots of broken blood vessels to boot. Joy! I use this twice a day, first thing in the morning after cleansing and before bed/moisturisers and serums. My skin tone has become more even and a lot less red, which is a victory in itself. I’ve also noticed the skincare that I use afterward works a lot more effectively. Summing up, it’s a cult product for a reason. There’s a travel size version available if you’d like to try it out before going all in! I, on the other hand, am I total Pixi convert. What should I try next?

Superdrug Skincare Vitamin E Radiance Moisture Cream

For that little bit of added moisture on top of my The Ordinary routine, this gets it just right. If you’re having a no make-up day but are after a touch of highlight, this moisturiser is the one – it has the most subtle micro glitter throughout. Nothing OTT, once applied it gives a healthy sheen that glistens upon inspection. Perfect for everyday use, its cute travel size is ideal for your bag on the go or in hand luggage on trips abroad. And it’s SPF15 too! No matter how strong the sun is on any given day, we should be wearing SPF daily as an extra precaution. We’ll have the skin for the rest of our lives, so it’s best to treat it right from the get-go! This little one is an ideal starter product to get you into the everyday SPF habit.

Superdrug Skincare Vitamin E Gentle Oatmeal Exfoliator

If there’s one thing I love, it’s the feeling of a freshly exfoliated face. For sensitive skin, exfoliants can be quite abrasive and sometimes painful, but I’ve loved this one for a long time. Part of Superdrug’s Vitamin E skincare range, they’re proudly cruelty-free and have a nice price point too. I use this once or twice a week, usually on a face-cloth when I’m in the shower, just for convenience. What can I say, I like to multi-task! I feel like this helps with congested skin and prevents the usual skin culprits from causing spots and breakouts. AKA, it’s a yes from me!

Solait Anti-Ageing Face Sun Cream SPF30

I’m going to say this until I’m blue in the face: wear. Sunscreen. Every. Day! If you didn’t already know, Solait is Superdrug’s in-house sun care brand. Can you tell I’m a fan? Also cruelty-free and very affordable, it’s a silly one to miss out on. It doesn’t have the greasy or sticky finish that most sun creams have, so it’s perfect for applying under make-up. Its water-resistant ingredients make it perfect for swimming and beach trips during the summer. It also has anti-aging ingredients in its composition, so it’s ideal for every age! If SPF30 is too low for your skin type, they also have an SPF50 version too. With the risk of sun damage, sunburn, and sunstroke, we can never be too careful! Wouldn’t you agree?

Malibu Skincare SPF50 Face Cream

Last but not least: a high factor facial sun cream. If you’re pale like me, you shouldn’t be taking any risks where skincare is concerned. Despite the rarity, I use this when it’s blazing hot outside. It’s been super sunny for the last few weeks, but I’m saving this for the summer when our usual heatwave rolls around. At least I hope it will – last year, we got a week of rain instead. Aaaanyway… It sits nicely under make-up, is water-resistant and smells like summer. What more could you ask for than that?
