Afternoon, lovelies! Today’s post is a review of the famous Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow palette. This post will seem like I’m telling you everything you want to hear. And it’s true, I am. But fortunately, I’m also telling the truth. Because this is the PALETTE OF DREAMS. *heart eye emoji forevvvvver* Let’s get started, shall we?
The quality of this palette blows the majority of my collection out of the water. Almost more than my beloved Urban Decay Naked palette. Which I’ve loved for many years and will always hold near and dear to my heart. The shade range is versatile, pigmentation is stunning, and can we talk about the smell? There are some actual chocolate bars that don’t smell as good as this. I get hit with delicious, chocolate-y goodness whenever I flip it open. Bonus!
As I’ve already mentioned, I’ve had this palette for well over a year now. Which has given me plenty of time to try each and every shadow contained within it. There are nine shimmers and seven mattes. Even though I’ve been preferring matte shades as of late, I think it’s a good balance. The matte shades are White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Triple Fudge, Salted Caramel, Semi-Sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, and Cherry Cordial.
The shimmers are Gilded Ganache, Black Forest Truffle (more glitter than shimmer), Marzipan, Candied Violet (shimmer with pink glitter throughout), Amaretto, Hazelnut, Creme Brulee, Haute Chocolate, and Champagne Truffle. It does contain a lot of warm tones, which I was weary of when I first spotted it on Instagram last year. But, it was just that bit too beautiful for me to pass up. So I bit the bullet and bought it anyway, and boy, did it pay off! The shadows, no matter what the combination, work together beautifully. Blending with them is an absolute dream. And the warmer tones compliment my fair skin, which I really did not expect.
My I-don’t-even-have-to-think-about-it shades are definitely Creme Brulée and Amaretto. I’ve worn them different ways with different brands, eyeliner or no eyeliner, and they always seem to work. My go-to look lately with this palette is a lot less neutral and a little more daring. Champagne Truffle all over the lid, Cherry Cordial throughout the crease and outer corner, and Candied Violet smoked along the lower lash line. I find it very feminine and a welcome change from my traditional brown/gold smokey eye. I love it when a palette pushes me out of my comfort zone and makes me more adventurous with my look!
How I wear this during the day
It really depends how I feel. But I like to keep my make-up quite muted pin-up during the day. This palette is perfect for that. I put White Chocolate all over the lid, Milk Chocolate through the crease for definition. And Haute Chocolate along the lower lash line. Hey presto, you’ve got yourself an eye-look!
How I wear this in the evening
This palette is capable of a variety of simple and bold looks. The latter of which I tend to go for for evenings/nights out. I put Black Forest Truffle all over the lid and smoked along the lower lash line to add ALL the drama. Cherry Cordial goes on the outer corner and through the crease to vamp it up. A cat-eye, dark liner and an equally dark lip, your sultry vixen evening look is complete!
I think I’ve raved enough about this palette now, can you tell that it’s love? I think it’s worth every penny, it has so many uses, highlighting and contour included. This palette wins. Life. Period.
