Copper DIY: Painting All Of My Homely Ornaments Copper
So, copper has taken the world by storm and has given 90% of bloggers heart-eyes. Therefore, I decided to make it easier to obtain pretty copper homeware. And pretty it is! I already had several pieces, which I’ve featured above. My rose-gold watch and cushion from Primark are my favourites! But, I needed MORE. Quite the insatiable amount of more! I paint things copper left, right and centre now, and I regret nothing about it.
Then, it came to me. I could just DIY it myself. And I have to say, these pieces turned out so much better than I ever expected! I’m definitely tempted to paint myself copper to match. Because that’s so classic and forever chic, right? Nah, didn’t think so. Anyway, the method was pretty simple. I picked up two tubes of metallic acrylic copper paint and small paint brushes from my local art shop. One: it says ‘Bronze’ on the tube, but it’s definitely copper. Two tubes = far too much, I definitely got carried away when I was buying them. I didn’t even get halfway through the first tube, oops.
I put down some newspaper to avoid having a paint massacre all over my wooden floor. And I also made sure to brush small amounts at a time in the same direction, in order to get an even result. After two coats of paint and a day of drying time, they were perfect! I’m so happy with them. I’ve become obsessed with minimalism over the last while. So white walls and furnishings and marble are the dream for my future home! Call me cliché, but I like what I like, sue me! If you try out this DIY, be sure to let me know in the comments below!
