A Note On Why Hard Work Pays Off

When I started this little space back in March of 2015, I don’t think I knew what hard work was, or where it could potentially get me. I’d been writing three posts a week and getting them live at an alarming pace, genuinely itching to post one every single day. I didn’t have an end goal in this regard, it was just for me, a hobby, a fun way to spend all of my spare time. I still love doing it to this day. Although my spare time now is a teeny bubble in the evenings and on weekends. I’ve talked about being busy all the time in a recent post. Regardless, even though blogging gets tough at times, my love of it and content creation knows no bounds. As does the pride I feel after busting my ass to be super productive and work really, really hard.

On Productivity and Feeling Useful

Productivity and hard work have become a way of life, if I’m honest. Don’t get me wrong, I do love chill time where I can just switch off – but not for long. I’ve grown into someone who always feels like they should be doing something. It could be cleaning, or clearing out my things, or organising, or planning. I can always somehow be productive with my spare time. But at times I might spend a little too much time being idle, or scrolling through my phone aimlessly. Then I get antsy, and guilty, and it’s just not a good time. I feel good when I’m thriving and busy. It’s how I always want to be, to be honest. I’m always on the hunt for ways to productively fill my time. And hard work and productivity go hand-in-hand.

Reaping the Benefits of Hard Work

And with hard work comes the benefits. When I started this blog, I never dreamed that I’d get to work with amazing brands. To be an affiliate or create sponsored content with a mutual end goal. I’ve been proven wrong on this. Hard work pays off, and the evidence is right here. This post is a memorable one for me. Because it’s the first of which I’ve been sent a clothing item from a brand to style for a post. And quite frankly, that makes me swell with pride a little. Or maybe a lot, whatever, no big deal.

…Except really, it is. It’s such a big deal to me. I’ve seen bloggers and Instagram-ers get wonderful opportunities like this, and truly didn’t believe that I’d ever be so lucky. But I am lucky. I’m lucky, and happy, and super proud of all of the work that I (and Scott, who’s incredible and takes all of my wonderful photos) have put into this little space. It’s always been a hobby. But maybe somewhere down the line with enough work and drive and determination, career prospects may come about. I can’t predict the future, but I’m sure as hell ready to find out!
