A Note On Making Your Life Yours

Putting Yourself First And Doing Whatever It Takes To Make Life Yours

Today I wanted to talk about something that I’ve learned to consider very important, and that’s making your life yours. You only get one, so why play it by anyone else’s rules? For the longest time, I thought that putting someone else first would work in my favour. This is definitely is not the case, as putting my happiness on hold was one of my biggest failures. Taking things in your stride and doing them your way is crucial to becoming your own person. As I turn 24 this Thursday, I now consider it my duty to live as authentically me as possible, because that’s what makes me happy. And what’s a better reason to do something than that?

Even something as simple as dressing however the hell you like can be so empowering. I styled this outfit for Christmas Day 2016. And I really love it. It’s so out of my comfort zone, which is perfect. Because comfort zones are dangerous, and shouldn’t ever be taken lightly. If you’re comfortable, you’re not progressing. That might be okay for some people, and that’s fair, but it’s not okay for me. I want to experience constant, consistent growth, all the time. Whether that be in terms of style, career, wisdom, happiness, WHATEVER, I want it all. And I’ll do whatever it takes to get there, and so should you.

It’s really important to look back on your life after a year and be able to say “Wow, I’ve really grown and changed for the better.”. It’s something that motivates me to be a better person, and have a better quality of life in general. Which after the maelstrom that was 2016, I’m endlessly grateful for. In terms of yearly aspirations, I’m making my life mine.
