5 Tips: Maximising Blog Traffic And Increasing The Reach Of Your Blog
Hi all! Today’s post is my tips on growing your blog traffic, and expanding it to meet as many viewers as possible. These tips are things that have personally helped me over the last few months. I hope they can be helpful to you too!
Post, and post often.
What I’ve learned over the last few months is that if you’re in this world, you have to dedicate yourself to it. You can’t upload a post, and return two months later with a new one and expect people to come rushing back! People like consistency and being kept on their toes. They’re more likely to follow and subscribe if they know you’ll be posting regularly. I stick to a schedule and post three times a week. I’ll detail on this in the next point.
Form a blogging schedule.
I find that this is the best way to get return viewers, as well as brand new ones. My current schedule is Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and as early as possible in the day, which works really well for me, as I’m given a few days in between posts to put effort into the new ones! Don’t feel pressured to post that much, or even more than that, I sometimes find three times a week to be a lot! Do what works for you, whether that’s every day or once a week. Just TELL your readers this, so that they know when to return.
State times when your posts are due to go up.
This is quite a simple one that not a lot of people think of, but boy, is it effective! Let’s say you tweet about your new post going live at 4:30PM. You have the excited few who click in on the button of that time or a minute or two before, driving your daily stats up more than if you’d just linked the post when it goes up! And hey, maybe they’ll get distracted waiting and check out a few more of your posts to kill some time 😉
Join in on Blogger Chats.
This is the one that’s worked the most for me, my stats and followers across social media and my blog have grown so much in just a month! The chats occur on Twitter, and have a relevant hashtag that you include, so everyone in the chats can see your tweets without you mentioning 150 – 200 people at once. Stephanie has the best list of weekly blogger chats over on her blog cocochic, I have them print-screened on my phone, they’re essentially my blogger chat bible! I try to join in on as many of them as possible. They’re usually on in the evenings, which works out great for people who work early hours/9-5, etc.
Use relevant tags and categories in the post, and hashtags on social media.
Kind of an obvious one. If you want more people to see your content, you have to use relevant hashtags to reach them! If you’re a fashion blogger, use #fbloggers, a beauty blogger, use #bbloggers, and so on. You get the picture. Include these on your tweets that link your posts, and I guarantee, you’re going to see a substantial difference.
